Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

in West Seattle

Hello and Welcome

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State offering individual counseling services to clients ages 13 and above. If you are here, you might be contemplating therapy for yourself or have questions about how to help someone you care about find a therapist. People seek out therapy for many reasons, whether it be for support through difficult times, ongoing challenges in relationships or struggling with low self-esteem or other feelings that get in the way of living a fulfilling life. Whatever your reason, now that you are here, please explore my website and contact me when you are ready.

I would be happy to start a conversation about where you are and how I can help.

About the Work

The experience of psychotherapy is a mutual and collaborative process between client and therapist. It involves talking, listening, thinking, feeling and wondering. I have training in several forms of psychotherapy, and work predominantly from psychodynamic theory. I listen for clues about some of your underlying patterns of relating with yourself and others, then we work together to come to a deeper understanding of how those patterns influence your present relationships and wellbeing. This endeavor can take many forms, and will be determined largely by the dynamics of our developing relationship in the clinical setting. Our ultimate goal is for you to become more empowered to grow and flex with your own changing needs and let go of patterns that no longer serve you or get in the way of a more satisfying life.

The most important component of our work together in therapy is that you feel comfortable working with me, and that you feel heard and safe to talk about whatever is on your mind. This trust and feeling of safety naturally develops over time as we come to know one another and find the right way to be curious about what is happening. Whatever your objective for therapy might be, your ongoing assessment of how you feel about our work together is of the utmost importance. We will check in about this regularly.

I have a rich and varied educational, professional and experiential background in the Arts, Social Sciences, business, and self-employment, and hold several different post-graduate degrees. These experiences afford me the ability to connect with people from many walks of life and of many backgrounds.
